Original Artwork by Michael Stevens, "Kit and Caboodle", 2003
This Sacramento artist's work in the building located at 1501 Capitol Avenue consists of large and small paper doll-like cut outs in the shapes of children, animals, and objects, collaged with "found" landscapes and still-life prints as a universal skin lend life, color, and whimsy to the long corridor running though the building from street to street. The mouths are articulated, indicative of the artist's interest in puppets.
