Original Artwork by Gale McCall, Childcare Fencing, 2002
The eight metal sculptures for the circle openings in the childcare area wall evolved from the consideration of the location of the project with the city, the architectural integrity of the wall design, and the desire to engage the users and the community surrounding this new building.
The designs consist of interlocking shapes, cut out and placed back together to make it whole. On the interior side of each circle is an individual colored iconic form (keyhole? woman?) growing in size from the center outwards, and floating just off the circle. The colors chosen are towards earth tones and foliage, bringing into the yard some of the colors from the park on the other side of the building.
