Original Artwork by BEEP' Inc., Hanging Sculpture, "A Walk in the Forest", 2003
Beep' Inc., artists Pae White and Tom Marble, designed the mobile in the prefunction lobby for the auditorium, located at 1500 Capitol Avenue, to interpret the concept of Flowers in the Forest. It is made of multiple glass hexagons, strung on stainless steel cables from the central beam in the area between the entrances to the auditorium. The many repetitions in various colors work with the light to evoke dappled foliage in nature.
The artists used a light touch to emulate nature in an artwork that looks quite delicate but is surprisingly sturdy. The fragile, organic "blossoms" are actually flat, geometric forms and the irregular appearance of the work is precisely ordered.
